Play Stalker for the singleplayer. As strange as it sounds, I've found server with players but couldn't join because of that key and it appears nowhere when I start the game. And I'd like to be able to start LAN also.
Even though, when I buy a game, I won't it to work totally, I guess you understand why. I paid for the freaking game. Anyhow, thanks for the answer. It is not a file, but a registry key. In the Windows registry editor utility, you need to click on HKEYLOCALMACHINE, then Software, and so on, expanding the tree until you get the full path. Or just search (Ctrl+F) for STALKER.
But maybe regedit works differently in your version of Windows. In any case, it is possible that the CD key is hidden by Steam because it is no longer usable. There have been problems recently with SoC key servers.
Perhaps those were solved in a way (for example, by giving the same key to all new Steam purchases) that makes the game unsuitable for multiplayer, although that is only a guess. But I do suspect the key might be hidden now for a reason.
Hi all, I've successfully registered my steam keys for Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat, yet my key for Shadow of Chernobyl gives me an 'Invalid' error! I was even cheeky and asked a friend if I could try registering his key, and got the same error! After a quick google this seems to be pretty common if the game was purchased directly through steam. Turns out both me and my friend did this. The one thing I couldn't find was a work around/fix so that I can get my lovely DRM free copies and FLAC album!
Anyone know if this is possible? I now have 2 legit Shadow keys and neither will register on the site:( Would sending them through to GOG support possibly get the issue resolved? Figured I'd post here first just in case I've completely missed a simple solution!
